Genesis Joy School Taekwondo Club was started in February 2007. It was the brainchild of the Director of Genesis Joy Project Institute, Mr Christopher Barassa and was intended to instill discipline and sense of belonging among the students.

Genesis Joy Project Institute is a self-help initiative started in 2000 in Mathare slums of Nairobi, to provide cheap and affordable education to children of the area.

The students, and people of the surrounding area who have since joined, are trained by Samson Lipuka, the most experienced taekwondo Instructor in Kenya. The club is a founder member of 'BETTER LIFE THROUGH TAEKWONDO' and has benn participating in competitions with much success.

We are happy to provide training geared towards improving the lives of young people in the slums in Nairobi, combined with their education. We shall continue to provide the best training to ensure that the students can be developed, physically as well as spiritually.

We have succeeded in weaning many of them out of their bad habits. We have seen less incidents of indiscipline in our school since we started taekwondo classes. We are convinced we are heading in the right direction.

Hopefully you shall be with us all this time to support the youth become better and more productive citizens of Kenya
